Fairchild Radio

Established in 1993, Fairchild Radio Group is Canada’s only national multicultural radio network. With operations in Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary, Fairchild Radio has been serving the multicultural communities of Canada with three FM and two AM stations. In Vancouver, our two stations, CJVB-AM1470 and CHKG-FM96.1 have been able to target the fast growing Chinese listening audience in Vancouver as well as those in over twenty other ethnic communities.

According to the 5 significant marketing surveys conducted in 1995, 1998, 2000 and 2005, and 2007, Fairchild Radio has been rated as Vancouver’s most listened to Chinese radio station 5 times in a row. Radio Programs

From award-winning broadcasters to music insiders, local celebrities to international artists, movie critics to news commentators, whatever their background and their field of specialty, our hosts and producers have unyielding passion and dedication to broadcasting.

With two stations on air 24/7, Fairchild Radio AM1470 and FM96.1 offer you the best and the most comprehensive Chinese radio programming with round the clock news, weather and traffic updates. Then, depending on the time of day, we have programs tailor-made for the many ethnic communities we serve, broadcasting in over twenty languages every week.

Community Outreach

Fairchild Radio maintains close contact with our communities and provides support whenever possible. We promote the events of various ethnic communites on our web site as well as our on-air Mulitcultural Events Calendar heard daily on both our stations. We also sponsor many cultural events put on by these communities including the Latino Soy Festival, Caribbean Days and Greek Summerfest.

Fairchild Radio is also there in times of need. In May 2008 Fairchild Radio launched a nationwide campaign with other members of Fairchild Media Group and raised close to 2.4 million dollars for the victims of the Sichuan earthquake. Other charitable events that we support include the Salvation Army Winter Warm Wave, the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Walk with the Dragon, the Canadian Cancer Society Radiothon, the Orbis Plane Pull and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation Gutsy Walk.

Functions and shows

We own the air, but we also make sure our feet are on the ground and on the stage. Fairchild Radio organizes and participates in some of the best performances and special events in Vancouver to reach out to the community and to increase exposure for our sponsors. Canadian Chinese Song-Writers Quest (SQ), Sunshine Nation, Little Sunshine, Elections Forum, Radio Idol and Chinese New Year Gala, just to name a few.
