A vibrant 2 week celebration of extraordinary Aboriginal performance featuring local Aboriginal visual artists, performers and workshops.

Here are some of the artists at this years Talking Stick Festival: 

SHARON SHORTY

Sharon Shorty is a Yukon First Nation storyteller, writer and comedian of Tlingit, Northern Tutchone and Norwegian ancestry.

Sharon tells traditional stories of the Yukon First Nations. Sharon writes short stories and memoirs of a Yukon life. She has been named “funniest human in the North” (Up Here Magazine, 2013). Sharon created her comic character “Gramma Susie” that has toured internationally for 20 years.

TERESA VANDER MEER-CHASSE

Teresa Vander Meer-Chassé is a proud member of the White River First Nation of Beaver Creek, Yukon and Alaska. Teresa is an Upper Tanana visual artist who enjoys working with beads. She is currently the First Nations Assistant Curator at the Audain Art Museum in Whistler, British Columbia.

 MICHELLE SOUND

Michelle Sound is Swan River First Nation Cree and Red River Métis born and raised in Coast Salish territory. Michelle completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Simon Fraser University, School for the Contemporary Arts, and her Master of Applied Arts from Emily Carr University Art + Design. Michelle is currently the Aboriginal Program Assistant at Emily Carr.
